From Sunnbüel near Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland, you can hike (winter hiking boots recommended), snowshoe, or ski up to the Gemmi (mountain station, Gemmilodge). The route is approximately 9 km long, takes about 3.5 hours, and involves a 490-meter elevation gain. You can take the Gemmi Railway down to Leukerbad (VS).
