Yes, the winter hiking trail is open. From Sunnbüel near Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland, you can hike (winter hiking boots recommended), snowshoe, or ski up to the Gemmi (mountain station, Gemmilodge). The route is approximately 9 km long, takes about 3.5 hours, and involves a 490-meter elevation gain. You can take the Gemmi Railway down to Leukerbad (VS).
