There are snakes, including venomous ones, in the Oeschinensee Sunnbüel area near Kandersteg in the Bernese Oberland. Stay on the trails and keep your dog on a short leash. Remain calm at all times and move away whenever possible if you see a snake. If you are bitten and are unsure what kind of snake it is, immediately contact emergency services (1414) and the ranger (0041 79 603 28 78). If possible, take a photo of the snake and closely observe the bite site.
